We have two bay windows(two bend reverse bays) and I'm looking for curtain poles and they seemed really pricey , so I was thinking to go for roman blinds.I looked at other houses in the street (from outside)and it looked like no one had blinds so DH says we shouldn't as well as they wouldn't look very nice. Am I being crazy to want to go for blinds?please help me make a decision

If you have Roman blinds fitted in the recess, bear in mind that even when fully open you will be obscuring part of the bay at the top all the way round. With curtains fully open you obscure a bit of the window on each end.

It's down to personal preference and when the sun comes in to the rooms, etc really. I wonder give two hoots what someone else had, unless it looked like a good idea I could copy.

If you go with blinds can you block out all the light in the bay or would you get gaps and would those gaps become annoying? Do you have to have poles? Could you not put up a curtain track which can be bent to fit the shape of the window? Tracks are not very noticeable if your window frames are white.

If the bays are rectangular I would go for blinds. I have them in my bay and they are great. I think bent poles look a bit naff but a quick look at something like Houzz will give you ideas.

I have very large, wide bays with Romans in them. The blinds are in recess and were bespoke and beautifully made by a local company. The 'back' (which faces out to the world) is very neatly done and all the fixtures are metal, not plastic, as you find with a lot of the discount buy online outfits (blinds2go etc).

Blinds. They are terrifc and assuming you radiator is located under your bay window as is standard it doesn't block out the heat in the winter.

Also Roman blinds do not have to block out a portion of the window-- its a question of the fabric and where you position them and most companies will explain the options.

We used natural curtain company that offer both a measuring and fitting service if you are nervous to do it yourself.
