Help me decorate my kitchen diner

Builders are in at the mo and need to make colour choices this weekend. So far we've got this all nailed down:

Cabinet colour - cannot find the exact colour online. It's a French grey with pale blue hues. We're having this kitchen made: www.firedearth.com/kitchens-bastide

Rangemaster in gunmetal grey www.365electrical.com/72880_Rangemaster-90cm-Dual-Fuel-Range-Cooker.html
This floor www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=107734
These lights www.gardentrading.co.uk/lighting/indoor/rise-and-fall-grand-paris-pendant-light.html

And that's it for now! Need to sort walls - undecided on colour but thinking of playing it safe. Should we paper in alcoves perhaps? The fireplace in the dining room is exposed being left exposed brick. Also need to pick tiles for behind the cooker in the chimney bit.

Light bright room thats 35sqm. DH and I are cautious re colour. Been thinking of a pink sofa (or similar) to add some zing to the room as it could be cold otherwise. But captain sensible says that with a toddler and another on the way, charcoal grey might be better.

Will try to upload pics and also find exact paint colour for units. Forgot to say we're having a fairly plain white worktops.

Help!!!

I keep banging on about little greene starlings egg which we've just used for out lounge-diner, with an off white in the kitchen bit

Also a light bright room and the walls look a pale duck egg colour.

Are the kitchen cabinets french grey, hard to tell from that picture which colour you're meaning.

Kitchen cabs will be close to the light grey colour on the fired earth website. Slightly bluer.

Will check out that paint, thx.

Think you should add a bright colour

I think an off white for the walls. Look at Little Green Clockface - has grey undertones, but still sort of creamy and not cold IMO. I'd do nice tiles with some sort of design behind the cooker - Fired Earth style. The floors are quite warm, so that will keep it from feeling cold. I think a pink sofa would be really nice, but obviously needs to be washable covers. Charcoal grey would also be nice - just add some bright cushions and a throw (also washable). You can also add colour with artwork, decorative storage and / or crockery on display. Sounds like it is going to be really lovely!

Thank you Wendy, all sounds fab and I'll check that paint. Planning a trip to fired earth tomorrow to go tile shopping. Any thoughts on injecting some colour in that way? I saw some nice mandarin stone ones which were lemon and grey which looked nice?

We really aren't colour shy normally, about to paper our downstairs loo in the Osborne and little penguin books stuff. But I suppose it's a smaller space which makes us less shy Grin
