Do you fill in picture hooks etc when moving

We have sold our house and have lots of picture hooks around the house, also hole in fire place for tv cables (wall mounted). My DH and I are in disagreement I say we should fill all holes, hook marks and touch up paint but he says they bought the house as it was and they can do it. It is a victorian terrace (so should expect some wear and tear) but we have totally renovated, replastered etc. The only problem is paint used for living room has been discontinued (bl**dy wickes) have small amount but not sure it is up to scratch (will have to get the stirrer out!! What would others do or have done?

Congratulations on selling your house!!
No I wouldn't, and I certainly wouldn't expect it either. As long as the house is left clean that should be fine IMO. The only exception would be if you move some furniture and something is damaged or the wall is badly marked then you should try your best to make good, but picture hook holes - no.

Thank you! I might get him to do the TV cable one and leave the others. I am also worried about the oven - I clean it and clean it but never looks great (and only 4 years old). I suppose it says much about my cooking skills!

I'd second not filling in picture hook holes, although if you have some paint left over it might be a nice jesture to leave it the shed so the new owners can fill and paint if they want. In our last house the previous owner left us all the tins of paint he'd used and although the place was pretty good it was really handy to know what make and colour the paint was so we could patch in the scuffs and scrapes we made trying to get the furniture in.

don't remove the hooks either. I think its compeletly accaptable to leave hooks and therfore holes in place.......then they can hang their pictures too! {wink}

Thank you - I have been filling some little cracks and painting some chips etc today but think will leave it at. It was my mum who started me thinking I should take out hooks etc but she does have hundreds of pictures in her house it would like a bit crazy with no pictures on the walls and just loads of nails!

It's a while since we moved into out house (have never sold one) but this is what we found:

Where vendors had taken down some cabinet, light fittings and curtain rails (which we knew they were doing) they "made good"; well sort of, but not very well iyswim!
BUT! They were keen photographers and had pictures up all over every wall, not on picture hooks but just nails. There were hundreds of the bloody things which we were still finding years later!
It wasn't very clean either.
