colour for skirting?

What colour do you think the skirting of our new room should be?

The room itself is going to be F&B Stony Ground, which is a kind of beige.

The room is fairly low (about 6ft 4 high?) and the skirting is quite high.

Most of the woodwork is going to be an off-white.

I think there are three choices for skirting - off-white, same colour as walls, and slightly lighter colour than walls.

I can imagine that if I do the skirting off-white, it will emphasise how low the room is.

I could go for a slightly lighter colour, or for the same colour as the walls.

What do people here think?

I would keep the skirting the same off-white as the rest of the woodwork, but then I am rather un-adventurous!

l have a couple of rooms in stony ground, one of which is a study, high ceiling, cornice, picture rail and high skirts.

l opted for all the same colour, used stony ground estate emulsion on walls and above picture rail, then estate eggshell of the same colour for the skirts, pic rails, sash window, fire place and build in tall cupboard. The ceiling and cornice are painted in clunch. The door is stripped back.

A couple of the walls are papered to break it up, but l love the all over colour look myself.
