Painted teak table - can I send it to be dipped?

I have two very ornate carved teak tables that have been painted with gloss paint. Can I send them to one of those companies that dips doors or will it ruin the wood?

Very specific question, I know!

Ring them up and ask?

I used a fab strip company in St. margarets London if you're anywhere near?

Check which sort of dipping is suitable. I can't remember which is which but our doors had to go through a completely different process than our very ornate wooden fire surrounds did. They needed a much gentler process, I think it was a cold dip, so worth checking it out. They came up beautifully with no damage at all.

Cargirl Please can you let me have that name/number?

Someone has offered me a lovely dining table but it's covered an inch thick in gloss lacquer. Want to see if I could get it dipped and then waxed (can't be stripped as has beautiful mouldings).

Hi

this is the place I use

www.woodstrip.co.uk/, they are often out doing collections/deliveries but worth ringing until you get hold of them. They did my antique chair - hardwood I think and it was only £25! As Maggie says you may need a different cool dip thingy instead.
