Anyone know what the beach is like? Pebbly or sand? Surfy or not??

And is it a 'nice' area??

stayed in East Preston over new year - house on the beach here

Defo pebbly - but lovely. Ferring and bits at Littlehampton are sandy.

I know Angmering a bit as used to work for big local shampoo company.

Littlehampton has had its share of small seaside resort social problems (drugs etc) but there are some lovely villages around there. And Arundel and Amberley are lovely. Plus you're not too far from Bton or Chi for culture/shopping etc.

Don't know much about schools though.

Lovely house, SameOld!

H'mmmm - really wanted some sand, and had been told that the beach was sandy at low tide. DS loves to boogie board and I'm not sure that's possible with pebbles (ouch). Still, will go and look

actually is IS fairly sandy at low tide, and it's a very deep low tide (not sure that's the correct term Hmm but YKWIM). I live along the coast where there's nowhere near the same differential in high and low tides...

Do you mean the water goes a long way out, or that there's a steep slope down? A long, shallow gradual tidal movement is best for waves apparently .

Getting a bit excited now ...

Ah yes, can see how my post is misleading

No, it's very flat, just a LONG way out. LOTS of dog walkers when we were there at New Year. Looks like some of those surfy type Cornish beaches.
