Chance to move to Gloucs or Devon/Cornwall

I'm in a dilemma! I have a chance to move to Gloucestershire or Devon/Cornwall to study a PGCE but cant decide which. We will be moving from Manchester and my DS will need to visit his father. I dont want to live in Chelt but have heard good reports about Stroud.(Im a hippy at heart!) Would like somewhere in the countryside with good community and decent high/primary schools. Cornwall has always been a dream but am concerned about the commute - and whether we would actually have time going to the beach!
