We are relocating and I have the choice of my three going to Freeland (where they already have places) or Combe (where we are renting) which is the highest offsteded school in the area. Can't decide help?

Why drive the school run every day when you don't have to? Personally I think you'd be
better off sending them to Freeland which is by no means a bad school and then they'll have local friends and aftetschool activities.

Thanks for your advice - I think my message was a bit confused! We are relocating from Northants and I secured them places at Freeland as it had space and seems a great school yet living in Combe we could walk to school and it has plenty of stuff going on even though it is smaller. An extension of the problem is that we like Eynsham secondary (freeland is a feeder). We could potentially send them to Combe, then buy in Eynsham catchment...ohhh I don't know it's so hard!

Combe has a very good reputation though I don't know it personally. It did have a reputation for being very academic but, don't know if that has changed since previous head retired. Why don't you go and visit and try and get a feel for it. I suspect you will probably get to resent driving dcs to Freeland every day when the local village school is really pretty good.Incidentally Combe feeds into the Marlborough in Woodstock which also has a good rep and if you remain in Combe I think there's a school bus.

Thanks jellybrain - been to see Combe and like it -new head more creative than academic - a combo of both sounds good.Think we may get in as have just heard of family moving out of the village - it must be fate!
