Hello, there's a possibility my job will move me to the UK and I would welcome any suggestions for good schools (private or state) in the Warwcik / Leamington Spa area. My DD will be 10 by the time we move. Thank you.

Sorry, I can not help, I'm newcomer to Warwick, but I live in Rugby.
I hope someone can help you, I only "bump" your message.
Good luck.

State schooling in Warwickshire is complex - you have state grammar schools in the south of the county (i.e. selective) as well as faith schools and all of the high schools.

So some of what you're asking depends upon whether you would consider living just south of Warwick/applying to grammar out of area, or whether you are not looking for that sort of education.

here

(I realise that 10 is not secondary age, but your DD may be going into year 6 which is where they take the tests).

I live a little further south and don't know the state schools in Warwick & Leamington, but private girls' schools to look at would include King's High in Warwick & Kingsley in Leamington. King's High shares a prep school with Warwick School (boys) and Kingsley is 3-18.

When are you coming? If your DD is going into year 6 (10-11) this autumn, the secondary school application for state schools needs to be submitted in late October.

The priority circle (i.e. catchment area) for the southern area grammars (in Stratford and Alcester) covers all of Warwick and Leamington. If you want to go down that route, your DD would have to be registered for the eleven plus later this term (July?).

If she's going into year 5 (9-10) this autumn, you'll have a bit more time to draw breath.

Sorry, the catchments seem to have changed since I was that age (sw of that area).
