school swimming-charging less for siblings?

DDs new school has a policy of charging £4 per session for swimming per child but only £3 for each subsequent child.Is it legal for children to subsidise one another like this ?

The school, not other pupils, subsidise in cases like this. They have funds set aside for the purpose.

Is this a state school? It is not lawful for schools to make a compulsory charge for swimming lessons but they can ask for a voluntary contribution. See here for more information.

Swimming is I believe part of the National Curriculum at KS2. As such if the lessons are during the school day then the school can only ask for voluntary donations for the transport to the swimming baths.

Whilst i can understand the reasoning behind offering a discount for a sibling, it is incorrect and the school should only be asking for the minimum required to cover appropriate costs as a voluntary donation.

Ask for the school's charging policy, which is a legal requirement and see what that says. Sometimes things can get confused, so check with this first.
