HI, could anyone help please? My sister has applied for a TA post in a different school (she has 6 or so years experience in another school but is leaving for personal reasons) and has been offered 4 days per week with an hourly rate of £8.00. She has to do the normal TA duties combined with some SEN work to assist the teacher. I am an ex-TA myself but have lost touch with wages, etc. Can anyone help? Is this a reasonable wage? She lives in Berkshire. Thanks.

By my very quick and rough calculation it works out at about £14,000 per year if the post were full time (i.e not term time only) at 37 1/2 hours per week. Which 'could' be quite good for a TA (depending on what 'level' the job is at)as rates across the country can be as low as £11,000 pa

I got just under £8 p/hr when I was TA. As a qualified teacher, it was laughable - when I returned to teaching it took me 1 and half days to earn what I had been doing 18hours for. But it was a lovely job...

I am a level 3 TA and get just under £10 an hour I think, or maybe just over. It is a rubbish salary really for the amount of work required. I am actually a qualified teacher, but have chosen to go for the rubbish pay option as I don't want the work load of teaching whilst DD is primary school age at least. But some days I do wonder!
