I'm hoping to persuade ds1 to go as Harry (and the dinosaurs) - Harry wears normal clothes, different ones in every book. And I have buckets, I have dinosaurs .

Amidai - Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella were in books before they were films, she could go as either of those?

Dd was all set to be someone from the Secret Seven, and then the school announced that as her year are studying "India" as a topic at the mo, they are going to be reading lots of Indian stories that day and could they all come in an Indian outfit. Sigh.

That is better than the year they told us they all had to be an animal from their favourite book though. And better than Year 2, who have to be someone from Asterix!

If you look on the Horrid Henry website there are pics of all the books. The first one has him in a pirate hat - could you do a pirate hat with brown wool sticking out? Or HH Robs the Bank - wooly hat with all hair stuffed under, and a batman-type mask.

you could try to find a cheap straw hat in a charity shop or somewhere? cut the brim off so its just the head bit and stick wool on to that?

Have you not got a pirate outfir? DS2 went as Long John Silver one year. Had to take his crutch off him tho (DH made it out of a broom handle) as he was about to start laming people

Horrid Henry is easy - just a stripey T shirt, freckles (use eyebrow pencil) and messy hair.

DD1 told me yesterday that she was going to go as "herself". And that was fine because she has a personalised book and she is the main character.

clever or lazy?!?

jomummy2 · 26/02/2010 09:20

I'd say clever
