Hello - I have an interview for a PGCE in Primary education next week and I have to take a Maths test whilst I am there and I was wondering whether anyone else had to do this?? I was just wondering which bits we needed to know as it doesnt state on the letter and also what sort of level I'd need to be up to. Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance X

should be up to GCSE level, you could type in QTS maths skills test and try the interactive one online... BUT don't let it scare you, I don't think they'll do something quite like that at your interview. It depends on which uni you're at, but the interview shouldn't be too tough. Good luck, just go prepared to answer all the obvious questions. Xx

All teachers, whatever their subject, need to have or pass the minimum core in literacy, maths and ICT - this is equivalent to L2 or GCSE grade A - C. This is a quote from some of the bumph 'All trainee teachers hoping to gain Qualified Teacher Status need to pass a computerised numeracy skills test. The test is designed to ensure they have a sound grasp of numeracy skills such as mental arithmetic and interpreting statistics, and can apply these in their work.'

You can check your own skills on the move on site www.move-on.org.uk/testyourskills/choice.html

hth and good luck with the interview.
