How long is your school run - round trip?

Just wondering as mine is an hour (sometimes just over) and I am wondering if I am slightly mad!

50 minutes on foot/bus.

20-30 mins on foot depending on how quickly we can cross roads

15 mins to walk, but DS now walks with his friends ( Y6) so my round trip in the morning is a bit fat 0!

Mine is 70-90 mins depending on traffic, so I know how you feel McDreamy. DC very happy there though.

Dh is doing it this morning so I have the v rare treat of MNing in bed on a weekday morning

How did you come to having such a big school run Verity? We have recently moved and for me it is the nearest school that could take both of them. For some reason there were plenty of places for DD in Y2 but reception was full just about everywhere so we go to school in the next town.

It's a very good school (although DD is taking a while to settle) and tbh I don't really have any other option. I am a SAHM so the school run doesn't interfere with work, I just cant help feeling that it's a bit crazy! Reassuring to know I'm not the only one though Verity

Roughly 10 minutes walk each way. 2 minutes by car.

Mine is about 1hr 30 too. DS goes to school in the next town along as we live in a Welsh village and DS needs an English school

Dreading when DS2 starts nursery next month, I will be spending my who day dropping off and picking up!

I also drop DH off at work en route!

20 minute walk without children. 40 minutes with. 15 minutes if I run. 10 minutes by car.

Through our nearest school, we are a mile away with some steel hills.

Couldn't cope with having to spend an hour in the car everyday; bad for health and stress.

In theory a 10min round trip (walking) however by the time you add on time for dawdling children, handing in forms to the office, finding lost hats and jumpers, chatting at the school gates etc it can take an hour!

Why is it bad for my health? I quite enjoy the drive tbh (have to say I would prefer to walk though). It's not a bad drive - unless we are late then it is stressful

It usually takes around half an hour by car as my girls high school is deep in the Wiltshire countryside. We moved house recently and when we were looking we couldn't afford the village that their school is located in so we moved as near as possible, its a bit closer than our old house.

SIL has a round trip of over an hour in the car. I do think she is bonkers (5 minutes walk to school here). She has 2 pre-schoolers that tag along as well - surely 2 hours+ a day in the car is not good for oneself and even worse for LOs?
