Reading books too easy?

DD (Y1, age 5, 6 in April) finally finished all the ORT stage 6/silver/grey banded books at school and been put up a level by the TA (as run out of books, not because able).
First book home was an owls book (ie not one of the easier first core books) and she has read it effortlessly without stumbling or needing to sound out on any word and with great expression/comprehension. Teacher describes her as a 'fluent' reader who will only struggle with the odd word.

My question is, is this too easy and the lack of challenge an issue, or is there a benefit for DD in reading at this level of decoding/comprehension? Wondering whether to raise with teacher or avoid being pushy mum (again!-already questioned groups for literacy and numeracy as DD in lower-middle group for literacy as groups seem to reflect quality of handwriting rather than reading ability).

Seems to take about a term to get through a level at DD's school what with the additional ORT books and non-shceme banded books at each stage, so dont want boredom to set in.

My advice would be to question the school but not push too hard. I think they like everyone to be of a similiar level.

Why not just get her different books from the library for her to read at home? My son was a very early reader and was soon able to read both fiction and non- fiction books on subjects that interested him. Because of this his general knowledge and vocabulary/spelling are good.

I have the same with my DD, she was bringing harder books home to read in reception than she is in Year 1. They are focusing much more on understanding, puncutation and actually being able to read the words as if narrating a story with expression etc. I got a bit fed up with the lack of challenge in the words at the start but have given up now, I can see that these are also important aspects of learning to read, not just how hard the words are. She reads whatever she wants at home and that keeps up the difficulty level for us. She also says she "hates " reading which is a shame, not sure why so not pushing too much at present.

Schools don't like children to all be on a similar level (I'm not sure why anyone would think that - imagine all the copies of books they would require if that were the case) but some children while being able to read books fluently lack the ability to answer questions /recall what they have read so may be reading at a level for understanding rather than decoding ability.
