You need to stop using capital letters- it appears as if you are shouting and is thus rude!
Sentances help too

Our LEA raised the money to build a new school by selling the old one to developers. The decision lies with the LEA, not sure there is much other than lobbying them, you can do tbh. Neither party are planning to prioritse education after next election so it isn't likely that there will be much money about for new schools tbh.

raise the money yourselves.

i replied on your other thread. it is possible.

news article here

just might take 15 years to plan and raise the cash.

have the LEA actually given any time frame as to their rebuilding programme?
there should be some sort of vague future plan for rebuilding schools.

what do the governors say?

local press?

Report
EccentricaGallumbits · 07/01/2010 23:00

the governors should also have a finance section and a buildings and premesis section.
what are they doing about repairs?

I have googled the group name, and I can see that you have tried and tried to get this sorted

Good luck

I just googled as well - 839 references, that is good going!

Inaiz - it sounds like the school definately needs to be refurbished etc. I have no idea how you should go about getting it sorted though.
I doubt it is the only school in the uk in a poor state of repair though to be honest.

Good luck!

Have read a few news items by googling. The trouble seems to be that the school is successful! I'm sure if it was failing then it would get a shiny new building.

How can it be overcrowded? Surely there are legal limits to how many children can be crammed in?

Good luck with the rebuild!

it's not great is it.

But I do take objection to it being described as a "3rd world school"

Wastwinsetandpearls · 07/01/2010 23:49

That is not true hocus, lots of very good schools get new buildings.

Shout all you like, not in the slightest bit offensive to me.

Although, stating your school is of a similar standard to that of a developing country...

Hi,very interesting comments, firstly not to be offensive to the third world, believe you me ,i know,i come from a third world country, and thats just it ,my school was far more decent than JOHN GULSON PRIMARY,in U.K.

And to reply to overcrowded confusion, the council IS contadicting "the every child matters policy" thats the argument, and as far as a shiny new school...take a look in the vid clip-john gulson parent action group..... youtube(by the way there is another vid of state of a building of 59 yrs old.)
other schools in neighbouring areas that are just 25 yrs old have been offered a rebuild and refused-to which we put fwd to council why did john gulson not get a second glance?

The school has been neglected for years and when funding was available we were 'forgotten.'

Everyone who has visited the school including MP's, Cllrs, & locals all agree we need a rebuild, But the LEA dont!!!!

It seems that a lot of the funding has been used rectifying mistakes such as, closing off open plan classrooms, decreasing school sizes only to increase school sizes now!!!

This is neither efficient nor effective use of public funds!!!

I have actually been told by LEA that funding is assessed through under achievement!!!!

SO YES OUR CHILDREN NEED TO FAIL FIRST!!!!!

crap but true. You fail, you get money. You excel, you don't.

I teach in a school that excels and we have been rebuilt. It took a long time but it happened.

Report
sammy125 · 08/01/2010 21:40

Oh yeh another way of getting rebuilt is being in a well off part of the city!!!!

A school in the richer end of the city was going to be rebuilt, but the parents stepped in and refused. The funding was used in another school, which was not in the LEA plans, but in the same area as this other school!!!!

Our school is in the inner city and is in the most deprived area in the city!!!

We as a community have sat back and expected the people in charge to do their job fairly and honestly!!!!

BUT I GUESS THE RICH /POOR DIVIDE WOULDN'T EXIST IF WE LIVED IN A FAIR AND HONEST WORLD!!!
