tricky times tables facts

Which facts do your DC /pupils find most difficult to memorise ,and how have you helped them?

The 7s and 8s were probably the trickiest.
I think the best thing to do is to teach them the patterns for the tables which do have them (9s, 11s) so that they they can concentrate more on rote-learning the ones for which its essential.

7's and 8's here too! Although they still grasped those once they realised all they had to learn were 3 facts: 7x7,7x8 and 8x8 as they knew all the rest from the other tables!

I teach:

5,6,7,8 (usually sung to Steps!)for 7x8= 56 (56(=)7(times)8)

They LOVE "I ate (8) and (8) till I was sick-on-the-floor (64) - 8x8=64

Haven't got a 7x7 one yet!

Inthis - those are BRILLIANT.

7x7 - i never had a rhyme but we would say it again and again - sometimes not even in maths and after a few weeks they all knew it!

Chanting, followed by flash cards, over and over again paper sums and repeat repeat repeat
