Hi,

I am new here and I have heard wonderful things about this site. Can anyone shed some light on the issue of primary/prep schools in the Southgate/Enfield areas? I am looking at private/independent schools for DS who will be starting in Sept 2010, and my choices have come down to Keble School, Vita Et Pax and St
John's Prep Enfield town, comments on any or all of these schools will be appreciated.

Hi Mims04,

My son is at Keble school which he joined in year 2 from the state sector. He is extremely
happy and his reading has improved no end. He is in a class of 12 boys which is fantastic.
We also looked into the other schools you mention, Vita Et Pax was out of the question
as we are not religious and do not want more time taken up with this than the normal RE lesson. St Johns we had heard far to many adverse comments to even bother looking.

Vita et Pax was planning to have a two form entry for 2009 so I'd check that if I were you. It would seem to me that an extra class would put extra strain on resources even if it was for just one year group.

Are you close enough to Manor Lodge in Shenfield? This is supposed to be a great school.

Looking into schools also for 2011.
Loved Vita et Pax but recenly clicked that you have to bring lunch & I know that is not for me. My on doesnt eat much at all so I need a school that can offer him variety & where he can see other kids choosing what to eat.

Went round Lochinver. Loved it plus i have a friend with a son there and another going in soon.

Keble - yet to look around. What did you think of Keble ?

St John - yet to look around, though I heard its a love / hate thing. you either love or hate the head instantly :-)). A collegue loves the school (2 kids there). then again her kids didnt do jnr school. Know a member of staff in snr school who loves working there but secretly agrees that lots of parents find the jnr school head hard to take on (i think she is also owner)
