How do I go about changing schools?

It looks like we are moving house in a few weeks. Just wondering what I need to do about the school. Do I contact the hopefully new school to say we are moving into the area or the local eduction authority? If anyone knows that would be great thanks?

Depends on the area. If in doubt, give the LEA a ring.

Warning: You may find your nearest school is full, so you might want to have a look on-line to check out the surrounding schools.

how far are you moving - ie can your child stay at the existing school in the meantime or is it just too far?

definately contact LEA and ask them which schools are likely to have places.

also might be worth calling nearest few schools to see what position is - esp important if you are interested in faith school which has more autonomy over admissions.
