Republic of Ireland - primary school holiday dates help please!

Hi All... My first post, I hope someone can help!

My DH's son lives with his mother in Ireland - apparently he has a week off school in aid of St Patrick's day I'm not sure if this is correct or not. (His mother has a habit 'getting him out of the way' at any given opportunity).

I'm aware it's a public holiday in ROI, but does anyone know whether schools are allowed to give a week off for St Patrick's day? I've been searching and searching the internet and can't seem to see this as standard anywhere. DH's son seems to be out of school more than in it with all these random holidays!

TIA xx

Phone his school and ask the holiday dates. no need to say who you are or why.

Yep, will try that, thanks Spring. Although will have to wait 'til tomorrow, as it's St Patrick's day today!

My family live in Ireland, Lucy and every time I phone my mum she is looking after my DN because the school are on holiday for something or other.
I don't know when they ever go to school.

Schools were nearly all closed 16 and 17 March, some opened 16th. (17th was Bank Hol). There may be a strike Mon. 30th March, then closing 2 weeks over Easter. (INTO website lists holidays). There may be closings for First Communions and Confirmations too round Eastertime.
