Primary schools in Edinburgh

Does anyone know anything about primary schools in Edinburgh? We have to move out of our house in December, and as DD might be starting school next Sept, catchment areas are forming part of our decision making process.

We're not really looking at the East side of Edinburgh, as it would be a difficult commute for DH.

We've looked at houses in the cathcment areas for:

South Morningside
Carrick Knowe
Roseburn
Broughton

Would also like to hear about:

James Gillespies
Tollcross
Sciennes
Preston Street
Dalry
Bruntsfield
Craiglockhart

Any info about any school would be very welcome!

I am looking at the HMI reports by the way, but just wanted to hear from real live people....which possibly begs the question why ask you internet sprites??

I used to go out with the son of one of the teachers at Juniper Green, she's lovely.

Dean Park primary school in Balerno seems to be pretty good. ds is only in nursery just now, but friends with kids in school never have anything bad to say about it.
