Ds2, age 5, reception, was very pleased when he came home today. He had his pockets full of what he called "useful things for making a collage." They had been collected during playtime and included, 3 pieces of broken glass and a bottle top, as well as various pieces of plastic and more acceptable sticks and stones.
I accept that the school can't be entirely responsible for what's thrown over their fence at the weekend and I appreciate that they can't watch every child minutely at all times, but there were c. 30 items in this collection, so he'd obviously been collecting rubbish for some time. Shouldn't someone have checked what he was doing and pointed out it wasn't a good idea to have broken glass in his pocket? Or am I being overprotective?
He knows now (if he didn't before really )that he shouldn't do it, should I say anything at school or pick my battles and let it go?
