Should she have done so? It seems unfortunate to me. I don't want him to know really, I'm not that keen on this kind of testing any way and don't see how it benefits the children to know!

DS is only doing them this week but he says that the results will be in with his end of year report.

I think most children want to know how they have done in tests, even at that age.

To make the whole daft testing system that we (unfortunately) seem to be stuck with vaguely worthwhile, including children in levelling and target setting is the only way forwards.

Try to think of it as a positive - if they know where they are now and where they need to get to can only help them to improve!

I'm so glad ds1's school hasn't even told them they are DOING them! He has NO IDEA that at the end of this year a stupid number will be attached to his name to tell people how well he can read or write or do sums.

Sats are a measure of the school and not the child.

Thanks! And lolBreevandercamp! It just seems odd to tell the child, my ds has fairly good self esteem, it just doesn't seem productive to just tell him what he can't do well.

I would be happier if her negative messages were balanced by positive ones but she ain't a praiser that's for sure. ds has to get that outside school from us and from all his extra curricular things!

My dss have always been keen to learn the results of any tests they have done. On the contrary they are frustrated if they complete an exam and don't get any feedback.
