I know that I got it ready about 2 weeks ago (clean kit, checked the plimsolls still fitted etc) and put it away somewhere safe ready for his first day back.
Well, that day is tomorrow and I can't find the blasted bag anywhere.

Any ideas please?

Hung up on the back of a door which has since had a coat put on top of it?

Sorry not to be of more help, mckenzie.......... try imagining you are putting it safe Right Now....... and go there. Hope you find it soon!

Cupboard under the stairs?
Hanging on the peg underneath all the coats?
Utility room?
Back of a door somewhere?

Under the stairs.

But that's if I was you.

If I was me, and I'm slightly madder than normal - the shed, or possibly the fridge!

oven?

fridge?

washing machine?

If it were me it would likely be in kids wardrobe or hanging behind kids bedroom door on hook, underneath school blazer/coat.

I found mine (well ds's) on top of the washing machine. Don't ask, no idea how it got there!

thank you all very much for the suggestions but after extensive search again this morning by DH and the DCs and me I have admitted defeat and ordered another set of kit and another PE bag. The office girls have told me that if I find it between now and when DS actually needs to wear it they will take it back and give me a refund but I can't see that happening.

In the words of Toyah Wilcox, "It's a mystery, oh it's a mystery"

Ours was at the bottom of the wardrobe.

Sorry you didn't maage to find it! You can guaranteed now that it will turn up exactlly one hour AFTER the new stuff has arrived and been labelled, making it impossible to return.

We found DD's squashed at the bottom of the laundry basket, completely mildewed, complete with contents. Ugh!

On the coat rack underneath all the coats.

I must have checked the coatrack 20 times Cornsilk as I think that's where i would have thought to put it. I'm going off now for another search. wish me luck.

Airing cupboard, because it still needed a bit of "freshening"
In a special pile to have name-tags re-checked/renewed
Somewhere where, very neatly rolled up, it fitted so perfectly that it had to be put there [speciality of mine, that one]
With his shoes, because though the plimsolls still fit, you need to check his outdoor shoes/trainers do
In the garden shed, because that's where you went to put the football that shouldn't have been in the bag/the plimsolls that didn't fit any more
With the outgrown uniform you're going to pass on to a friend

I spent a good hour searching for ds's bookbag on Monday. DH very about me losingit - state of the house mutter mutter - only to find it was at achool. They leave them there to avoid this problem.

It could be hiding with DD's book bag (similar thread last week ) - we also bought a new one ... partly in the hopes that it would scare it into appearing and we could return one

Good idea flamebatfink but like Tellusmater, our school keep the book bags over the holidays so that we don't lose them.
