Hi everyone, we moved a few months ago to Cheam and we need to decide which school we are going to send our son (he is in reception class from September). We have sort walk to Avenue Primary School or to Cheam Common Infant School in Worcester Park (drive 10 min) We already sign in to Cheam Common and now we received letter that there is space for him at Avenue. Any review for those schools? He's been at meeting and he really enjoyed for 2 hours at Cheam Common. I know that Avenue is outstanding but the school is really big 930 pupils which is really scares me.

Personally I would say you would gain so much by being able to walk to and from school ! Outstanding and on your doorstep surely it's worth consideration

There are others in Cheam - I'm sure there is a junior school attached to Cheam high which is near Cheam swimming pool - not sure what the o feted is but bear in mind what your senior school options will be when you get to that stage so try and plan ahead a bit

enterPIN thanks for advise. We will decide today but probably we will stay with Avenue School.

PIN it's a superselective grammar area of London, there are no feeder primaries afaik.

kate I'd go with Avenue. Friends who use it are v happy with their choice. It's been expanded recently but seems to cope pretty well with that, I'd far rather walk to school than drive especially with the early morning traffic in the area!

If there's not much in it I would always go with the closest. Also a big primary makes the transition to secondary a lot less stressful.
