I'm moving back to London from France very last minute... and my DS is 4 and due to start reception, in about 3 weeks time (!!) I am in full panic mode about schools- Westminster has offered me a place at Hallfield which I don't know about other than that it's a 3 form intake so, big, and that its around 90% english as an additional language.

My son is a late July birthday so very young for the year so small seems better to me. I need to wait until the first of September to know if he could have a place at the small Church school, St James and St Michael's and I know he could have a place at the new free school CET Westminster on the Edgware Road. Any experience out there for any of these?

I am looking for somewhere with a good community round the school as I will be a weekly single mother (husband commuting from Paris weekends).

I would consider trying private for a year or two if the state options are really not reassuring- the nearest to us would be Connaught House if anyone knows anything about this? My other option would be to travel a bit to Abercorn School or to Lloyd Williamson which seems like an attractive middle way between local state and private.

Tying to keep calm and just wait for the first week of term to see where we land up but reaching out for any advice or experience!
