Both children's levels recorded wrong for the second time...

Hi,
just been to both boys' parents' evening (Y1 and Y3) and they typically show a chart describing what level the children were when they finished the previous year and where they are now. These were recorded wrong for the end of last year, and we went in about it after parents' evening in November (we went in with the report from last year and they said they'd fix it).

However after this parents' evening I went home and realised that they are still marked wrong. Whilst I am not massively bothered by this, I should think it is not in my children's favour as they are shown as finishing their previous year at lower levels, hence actually their progress for this year is lower than reported. (One sublevel so far instead of two).

I am torn between leaving it or going to the head. What should I do?

I would email and just day that you were disappointed to note that these had not been corrected as you had been told they would be after the last parents evening, and have now discovered that they have not been. See what response you get.

If they are shown as finishing last year at lower levels than they got, then their progress should be more this year surely?

Personally I wouldn't worry. It doesn't effect your dc. It effects the teachers/school much more.

Not sure i understand. Are current levels recorded properly?
If they are then won't they seem to be progressing through sub levels .
If recorded as 1c , incorrectly, and now a 2b then thats more levels than being correctly marked as a 1b and now a 2b.
I would go in and mention it

Maybe they are wrong on your report?

Just to clarify for example they say 3a in the year end report but then they say "3b" in the spreadsheet we got. So they are showing MORE progress but in fact they have LESS progress because they were higher already.

I am just concerned that there are errors in the way levels are reported, and it is very odd as I have had children in this school for many years and never had this happen before.

I think I will email the head and ask to clarify what is going on.

Do you know the cut off point for the spread sheet data? Y2 data would be entered in June giving a number of weeks for your child to move up a sub level when the report was written. I entered data before half term and would be giving a higher level for a number of my class if entering the data today.

That could be it. I am still unsure whether I should raise it or not. Is it petty to do so?
