Best time for homework

DS1 just joined a new school for Y2 and I really want to try to "start as you mean to go on" with homework. Now, he doesn't have too much homework, but our experience with Y1 homework was that I had to do a lot of nagging and shouting to get him to do it at all, which was no fun for anyone. I used to let Ds come home, have a snack and then a play, and then sat him down for homework if he wanted a bit of tv afterward while I made tea. We are trying to watch less tv and frankly we just don't have the time for all that this year. I would be very grateful for anyone's tips for successful homework planning. It's very little but I have to admit I can't face another year of sitting on him to do it. My reaps rents certainly never managed my homework... I just got on with it myself.

homework is done as soon as we get home. The kids tend to have a snack in the car on the way home from school.

It depends on the child.

DH & I are both the type of people who like to get the work out of the way before the relaxing. DS1, DS2 and DS3 are the same.

When DD gets home from school she is too tired to do any homework effectively. She is much more productive after she has relaxed for a bit and eaten something.
