Hi there, my husband and I left London 9 years ago and are now returning with an 11 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. We would very much appreciate any advice on how to find a nice place to live with good schooling nearby for both of our children. My husband will work near Kings Cross and Euston Station so we are very flexible on location.....we have used both international and british schools abroad and found the british ones much better. We will arrive back in two weeks time and have promised our daughter a dog! Tks

Are you buying or renting? What's your budget? What's your DH's absolute maximum commute time? Are you looking for private or state schools? I assume you're looking for a Y4 (primary) and Y7 (secondary), is this right?

Do you want to live in London, or would your Husband be happy to commute? You might find it easier to get a school place (and space for a dog!) if you are further out. Herts, Essex etc?

Muswell Hill has good primary and secondary state schools, but high property costs.

Look at Highams Park - train then tube to Kings X but reasonably quick and outstanding schools at primary a secondary.

Thanks so much for you responses and suggestions.....ideally we would like to live out of London but be able to commute directly to either Kings Cross or Euston. Initially we would like to rent , budget up to £1,500 , but ideally we would like to buy....it will have to be state schools and possibly even catholic schools, but not definately and yes, my daughter should go to yr 7, secondary and my son yr. 4 primary.
