Year 3 "Rainbow" writing

My DS is struggling with written homework of (only) 3 sentences which follow the "Rainbow" writing method.

I can't remember all of it but basically it has colour coded "powerful" openers, verbs and nouns and adjectives. To make sentences more interesting.

The problem is I can't remember all the colours (no idea how DS can) and sentences become far too long with "odd" adjectives. Every time of day is either "magical" or "super", every action is done "quickly" or "excitedly".

We spend more time thinking of silly words than we do writing. Can anyone give me some guidance. Obviously I will also talk to his teacher but would be interested to know if you have any experience. It feels like "writing to formula" rather than actually expressing ones thoughts.

Thanks for any help

It doesn't sound as if it's being done as intended which is to create visual links
by encouraging children to see writing in different colours: red for verbs, purple for adjectives and adverbs, blue for connectives, orange for openers, green for additional information.
