Any advice on Farlington school versus handcross school near Horsham?

My family are hoping to move from London to Horsham early next year as we love the area. We have visited Farlington school and were impressed with the standard of education and love the idea of our dd having the option of staying there until she is 18, however it did seem a very small population. We are also considering Handcross, but we wonder where other parents send their dd's once they reach 13 from there? We plan to live in central Horsham and are keen to have a relatively short drive to schools. Any advice or thoughts from other parents of children at these or similar schools would be really helpful as we need to register soon.

Live near Horsham and can agree that Farlington has an excellent reputation. I don't know Handcross.

however, I do know that all the state schools have an excellent rep too, around Horsham and should not be over looked. They are largely in the top 10% of comps in the country.

if you want Farlington but bigger, try looking at Millais school for girls. if you want education going through to 18, try looking at The Weald.

I think they go to Brighton College mostly from Handcross (it is owned by the Brighton College group). No reason why your dd couldn't go to Farlington after Handcross now. Pennthorpe is also good if you are thinking of moving to the west side of Horsham.

Penthorpe is prep only though

I think the OP is looking for preps?

Sorry..I thought it was through to 16 or 18.

In which case, yes Pennthorpe is an option too

Although it is much more boy heavy

Avoid Pennthorpe - the new head is not up to the job and it seems to be for the kids who are not that bright. Handcross Park significantly better.

Live in the horsham area - Rudgwickmum, do you realise this thread is 2 years old maybe better to start a new one?
