Does anyone know what the distance/catchment was for the September 2012 intake to the Holy Cross Bilingual Programme? I know that in the previous two years it was 0.7, then 0.5 and I'm wondering how much further it has shrunk and whether I need to cobble together a 'plan B' for my son who is due to start school in Sept 2013!

Hi,

Not sure. But it is part of the French Lycee (joint venture). I would expect that the French Lycee criteria would apply. Best is to find out by telephoning. Y.

No, the entrance is done in two parts: 28 children through the Lycée according to their criteria and paying fees and 28 children not paying fees through LBHF using the borough criteria (in care, SEN, siblings and distance from school). The distance has shrunk every year since the programme began, but the Lycée were not able to tell me what it was this year.

Apparently it was .2 miles. Children on or past Wandsworth bridge rd did not qualify. It will only get tougher as it is quickly gaining a very good reputation

Just in case anyone else is seeking the same information, the first round offers were made at .329 miles and the final child admitted was just over .5 miles. They are expecting it to get smaller again due to the accumulation of siblings now that there are three years worth of children already in the school

Emmaroos, wow thanks for the update! I knew about the 0.329m from the booklet, I didn't know there were people who turned down offers widening it to 0.5m, that's great news! I live within about 0.35m so am trembling just like you ;-). What really worries me is that the bilingual WIX primary stream last year made offers only to siblings, and I think with lots of people moving into Clancarty Road / Studdridge Street to be close and obviously siblings accumulating, the same might happen in Fulham over the next years.

I made a late application and although I live only .2 miles away I am now quite worried because of the shrinking in the catchment area that you are mentioning.
So I think I have missed on this school by applying late, living so close I guess my application will probably join the waiting list but I doubt very much that anyone is not going to accept their place.

From the .5 miles information it seems like at least one person did not take their place last year, does anyone know how many people didn't take their places last year or previous years?

Emmaroos, can I ask you where did you find the information about the .5 miles ?

Apparently only one family did not accept this year! I know someone who lives about 0.35m away and is somewhere around number 17 on the waiting list or so. I think half of France moved into Clancarty Road / Studdridge Street last year to get in! It's crazy.

Apparently they will move to the Holy Cross site from next year.
