Hi all quick question,
Dd is 9 in a few months and in my opinion seeming to be quite hormonal and now I think is the time for our girly chat. Would it be an idea to pick up the new Dr christian jessen books guide to growing up so she can read up on any concerns. She gets embarrassed quite easily I wouldn't want her worrying and feel she can't speak about it. What do you think? Does anyone have the book? What are your views on the book?

I don't have this book but I remember having a chat with my twin DD's at a similar age and using a book with them. They took the book away and have since read through it themselves. Can't remember what book it was though. IME the earlier you talk to them the better. The older they are, the more likely they are to giggle and/or not want to listen. Good luck.

Thanks fernieb & chewingonlifesgristle your right the earlier the better to talk about it and I will consider that book on amazon.
I could do with book for girls and boys as eldest ds is 10. My parents were very closed on the subject so I found it difficult at that age. I don't want my dc's having that same barrier as I did.

Chewing: DD is 8y10m and loves the American Girl books, so have ordered that one for her; thank you for the recommendation.

Ah, was going to post about puberty books but for boys please. Ds is 11 and I think had his first wet dream last night as he said he "wet himself but just a little bit" and there is what looks like a spunk stain on his PJs. He is a very scientific and analytical boy so something which is factual and not twee would be ideal. Any ideas?

I like this one for my DD

they do a boy version but my DS is only 7 so I haven't got that far yet. always happy to see other recommendations though.
