Phonics in Morrocco?

Hi there, I have DS who is 3.11 and is going to full time school in september. He currently goes to the nursery attatched this school 3 days a week and absolutely loves it. They are doing phonics and very basic numeracy. He realy seems to enjoy all this stuff and likes to practice writing at home, will work out change in shops that sort of thing, is always his idea at home never mine, although he does have a few alphabet puzzles and things.

We have just come back from 10 days skiing and he really missed nursery although he did lots of fun stuff. In the evenings he wanted to do writing and talking about words and stuff. We plan to go on an extended trip to Spain and Morroco this summer before he starts full time school. I wouldn't have previously thought to bring educational material with us but now wonder if I should? Also should we have a set time each day for this stuff(if so how long?)Will he forget everything if we don't do some of this stuff? and if he does does it matter? We often do reading of signs and stuff but obviously they won't be in English. What do you wise Mnrs and educationalists think ?

Won't the signs be in Arabic in Morrocco?

They'll start from the beginning at school anyway. The last thing you want to do on holiday is schoolwork - he'll have years of that ahead of him anyway.

And Spanish in Spain. Not much point deciphering them if no one speaks Spanish.

Can't you just bring a couple of magazines with you and perhaps a workbook (or worksheets downloaded from the computer) to keep him occupied? He won't forget anything, at that age their brain is like a sponge and even if he does it won't matter.
