Ds is starting school in September. He has been goig to nursery for 2 full days (8am - 6pm) since I went back to work when he was 6 months.
He has just started doing 3 mornings of pre school on top of theis.
So now he has 2 key workers I just wondered how it will all work. Will preschool teach him things in a different way to nursery for example? Also at preschool he is with 2 year olds whereas at nursery he is just with his age group. Just wondered if that means he will be doing things aimed at younger kids or is it all play play play rather than learning (hopefully the former)

I help in a pre-school and we have a mix of 2.9 year olds to those who are nearly 5. Activities and play involve all of them and it is up to the staff to extend that play as appropriate for the child (even children the same age differ wildly in their abilities and interests). It is all about playing and learning from that play.

Some children at our pre-school also go to other settings and things will inevitably be done differently but I find, in general, they adapt to the rules and routines of the different settings easily.

ds (almost 4) attends both a Montessori nursery & a community preschool -- it seems 2 work fine. Actually, the nursery have commented about how particular ds is, he likes everything 'just so'. Funny thing to say coming from a Montessori nursery, he must really be fussy if they comment on it!
