dd is 2.3 and currently minded by a lovely woman who is unfortunately 20 min drive away (we moved to bromley last year). I am thinking of next year when she is 3. I would like her to start preschool, but my local one said the witing list is soooo long she would only be offerred a couple of afternoons from September 2008 (she will have just turned 3 then). I work 4 days a week so ideally need care from 8-6. These are my options as I see them.

Beg her current childminder to fit in the drop off and pick up at local preschool until she starts school (then go back to square 1)--unlikely she could though.

find an 8-6 day nursery (hopefully with a preschool session included)find a cildminder in local area who can drop off and pick up from afternoon session (cannot find one for love nor money...doesn't help that her current one is so good at her job so my standards are very high)

what should I do. Can anyone recommend any carer (nursery/CM/preschool)in the bromley south / shortlands area

thanks again

Have you been in touch with your local childrens information service? They should have a list available for you of all the childminders local to you with spaces, the pre-schools and the nurseries too - though may not know which have spaces in. If you go to the local council website (google it) you should find out how to get in touch with the CIS from there.

I'm in Bromley but not near Shortlands. The CIS service is really good though.
