Preschools in North London

Hi,
The world and its mother is telling me to find a preschool for my daughter who is 15 mths old. I initially dismissed this as rubbish as it seems so premature but now I note all my friends have registered their children of the same age somewhere already.

Is this premature? We have two or three pre-schools on our list. We live in North London, by the way.

Some very popular pre-schools do have a waiting list but not usually longer than a term or so. What age do you envisage her starting? Most won't accept before 2 years, 3 months. You won't get help with funding until the term after their 3rd birthday btw. Get a list of pre-schools from your local council and ring a few to see. HTH

Thanks Pinkteddy. I am happy to fund the place until she reaches three and would ideally like her to go from two and a half or thereabouts.

MarsLady - I'm in Totteridge (N20)

well as you have over a year I wouldn't think you need to worry too much. Worth ringing round to put your mind at rest I suppose but probably when she is about 18 months. I would spend some time going round to look at a few first though to get a feel for what you want. If your local council's childcare information dept is any good they will give you a leaflet about what to look for when they send the list of pre-schools out to you.

Thanks PinkTeddy. I will follow your advice and phone around when she's about 18 mths.
