Tax credits help?

I have managed to get Jessica into a preschool for 3 afternoons a week starting on 5th March (im scared but thats another thread!)

It is going to cost me £21 a week for her to go, but she needs and so do I.

Will tax credits help at all or is it just childcare whilst working that counts?

TIA xx

It's the term after the term in which they are 3 - i.e. birthday in November, free from Jan term.

Depends where you live - Hertfordshire is currently trialing free places for 2 year olds if you are getting any sort of benefits / tax credits. Don't know which other areas are also doing this.

Thanks so much for posting I too have exactly the same problem - My ds is 2.3 and desperatly need a pre-school especially as I have a new dd and can't devote as much time to him as he needs, the pre-school I am looking at is £12 per session and you have to have 2 sessions a week. I too don't work, so was wondering if the tax credits would help. I guess we will just have to struggle until ds is 3! Thanks again for this thread

I'm in Hertfordshire and my son started pre-school when he was 2.9. I just had to sign a form each term until he was 3 to confirm I was on tax credits. Give the pre school a ring, mine led the way with this as I didn't have a clue.

BTW - I work 15.5 hours
