Child care tax credit - help please!

DS is starting in January at a nursery school that only runs in term time.

I am eligible to claim child care tax credits for this but am unsure what to do for holidays. Do I phone them up everytime there is a holiday? (half term? easter?) or do I add how much it will cost for year and divide by 52 x by 12 to get a monthly cost?

i would do the averaged cost per week. you can phone them every time it changes as long as it changes by more or less than £10, but that gives them more of an opportunity to cock it up ( says the woman who is still contesting an alledged overpayment from 2005 and is now waiting for the parliamentary ombudsman to get back to her.)

Thank you. I was hoping that sounded reasonable, the thought of them having to change it every time there was a holiday sounded ridiculous! (and like you say more likely to cock it up).

I hope yours gets sorted soon.

don't know the answer - but maths-wise, add together all costs for the year then simply divide by 12 to get monthly cost (or divide by 52 to get weekly cost)
