My ds started pre school in october. Since then he has had 2 days off due to a cold and no sleep. But now he has been off for over a week with tonsilitus( its now gone to his chest and again he is not sleeping due to a rather horrible cough). Im hoping he will go back Thurs. But next week he is having 2 days off as we have his granddad visiting from abroad.I'm worried that the school will say aomething about his absence already but people keep telling me its ok as its only nursery. Any thoughts?

Yes it's fine
There is no legal requirement to be in school til you are 5 I think

Is your ds funded? If he is I think you have to fill in an abcense form for the days your taking him out to see his grandfather in case the pre-school are audited. There's no problem with the sick days though.

Don't worry my dd has been off a total of 8 days so far this term and some of her preschoolers have been off for longer there's so many bugs going round atm. I will also have to sign her off for two days in December as we are going away for the night.

Oh and pageturner, I do have to fill in the absence forms, thankyou for reminding me cos I would have forgot! I also did ring the school yesterday to let them know why he was off last week and this week and to also let them know we have just recovered from an extremely annoying case of headlice (kind of cute cos its ds's "first" - haha)

Well that's one less thing for you to worry about then!

(The head lice are much more of a problem...)

Tea tree shampoo and tea tree conditioner. We haven't had any head lice for over a year and I have three children exposed to the little buggers.
