My ds starts foundation 1 15hrs entitlement I'm September, we asked for mornings but got afternoons but someone had to I suppose.
I don't understand the hours though it's 12 till 3, but what do I do about his lunch? Will he have it there or do I try to persuade him to eat lunch at 11am even though it's usually 1-1:30 when he eats? He'd not eat then fan would be hungry all afternoon.
I'm confused!

Have you asked them? That's the only way to find out surely? At my daughter's nursery, the children who start at 12 have lunch when they get there with the children who do 9am-3pm.

Some nurseries allow you at a cost to drop your child off earlier to have lunch with any other children that are stopping for the whole day. If this is not available your child is expected to have lunch before they arrive.

We provide the lunch for our DC at nursery so no extra cost. They provide snacks at snack time mid morning for no extra cost.

We had been out and school closed before we got the letter so couldn't ask them.
I'll give them a ring in the morning and ask, I wouldn't mind sending a packed lunch in if he would be able to eat it.

He will also have a snack, probably fruit, and a carton of milk during the afternoon. The start time does seem early though, our afternoons are 12.30 - 3.30 pm.
