School nursery and term time holidays

Dd (3) is starting "school nursery" 3 days a week for 3 hours a day in September and I've just had a nasty thought.....

Will we still be able to take term time holidays?

On the grounds that this will be the last year we can for nearly 2 decades (we also have a newborn) I was planning to make the most of it!

Any thoughts? Is it up to the school?

I really don't see why not - I wouldn't do it in September while he is settling in

Yes you can. They can't refuse as not compulsory education. They discourage it at ours but only because that's the official line. DD hates missing nursery though even for holiday!

Go for it! I'm a nursery teacher and if parents ask me, I encourage them to take the holidays this year as they will have very little flexibility (if any) next year.

It's not compulsory to attend nursery (actually, it's not compulsory to send children to school as long as you educate them somehow), so you are fine to take them away. We have had to fill in holiday forms though but I guess this is just to help out with planning, staffing numbers etc. once they are at school it isn't easy to go away so make the most of cheaper holidays, the price does rocket in school holidays and it is so unfair.
