My godson is starting primary school in September and his mother has requested a few books that can introduce him to reading and writing for his bday.
What good books are around that you suggest - probably very different to the type that were around when my dc were at that ge.
Thanks

I don't really understand the question - surely all books introduce children to reading and writing? If she means phonics, then my DS who also starts school in September is a fan of Jolly Songs. If you're just looking for good books, current favourites of my son are Dr Seuss, Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and Emily Brown. Or there will be about a gazillion other recommendations on other threads on here.
