Vitamins and Iron

I've just discovered this board, my 32 week old son was born in November 2012 and is doing very well. I've enjoyed browsing these threads to see how others are managing, it's been very different to my experience in having a full term baby but great to see so many positive stories.

My question is how long did you/are you planning on giving vitamin and iron supplements. I seem to be getting conflicting advice. My son is 8 months now and weaning well so my GP thinks we can stop Davavit (vitamins) and presumably iron too, but I can't remember what the advice was from our consultant.

Thank you!

Hi Lovetobrowse Smile DS was also an almost 32-weeker - I was told I could stop vitamins around 6m I think, and could stop iron once he was established on a varied diet. In reality both stopped at about 6m because he then refused to take a bottle. However I can't see a problem with continuing to give them if you want to?

Thank you TeaandHobnobs. I think that fits with what my GP was suggesting. We will probably move onto Abidec which is the same vitamins my daughter has, as that will be much easier then. I was also giving a concoction of drugs in a bottle each day and otherwise breastfeeding, it was a faff! Thanks for responding.
