When did you go on maternity leave know you were having an early planned c-section?

Hi all,

I have recently found out that I am having an early c-section at 32 weeks ish due to a pre-existing kidney condition I have. This is a tricky one to ask but I am just trying to get a feel for when I should go on mat leave. Anyone else been in the same position?

In an ideal world it would be nice to have 1/2 weeks off before hand but I dont want to go too early either. Decisions, Decisions!

Hi almond I really suggest a couple of weeks beforehand is a great idea. Having a prem baby is really draining, especially if they are in NNU for any length of time. Give yourself a bit of leeway to rest up and get ready! Also after a c-section there are things you won't be able to do for six weeks, like drive, so why not use the time to do a few nice outings/shopping/lunches etc?

If you do decide to take some maternity leave before c-section then batch cook some food that you can freeze and then just reheat when needed when you're back home... and good luck!
