On Saturday I failed my driving test for the third time and am only just coming to terms with it. Maybe it's my hormones but I took it really badly and feel such a failure.
I am due late September and dread doing my test so pregnant. I feel as though every time I walk into a test centre they're all kids and I'm starting to turn into a moving mountain.
Aside from my embarassment at not being able to complete manouveres which come easily to others I was wondering has anyone taken a test whilst so pregnant....

OK, I wasn't going to tell anyone this, but I'm doing mine next week. for the FIFTH time. At 36 weeks. Do I feel a prat or what?

I think my cousin passed at about the same stage.

Oh Motherinferior good luck and 36 weeks, well now I don't feel so bad........I don't know about you but feeling so hormonal doesn't help in the slightest.
I'm sure you'll be fine....best of luck

ok, just to make you all feel better, I passed 6th time, and had no good excuse like being heavily pregnant. I was so nervous and kept getting failed for hesitation - got some beta blockers from my GP which gave me an asthma attack - ended up in hospital. Thank goodness it's all in the past now. Wishing all of you good luck and strong nerves!!

I have spent the last 4 years having lessons. heehee I failed one theory and I am just plain thick when it comes to driving. I have spent thousands of ££££££££.
I took dp with me last week on the driving lesson and guess what he was impressed. Only for the fact it was the first time his fingernails were not stuck in the dashboard.

Good luck and GO FOR IT no matter how pg you are.
To all you other mumsnetters good luck and happy drivingLOL to you all.

P.S I'm only just over halfway on passing. But I will soldier on coz at least it gets me out the house heehee

Good suggestion ks.

My driving instructor told me that it takes intelligent people longer to learn to drive as they are constantly 'over-thinking', where as the thick ones just do as they are told -no offence meant to any mumsnetters who passed 1st time!

You think that you are embarrassed about learning to drive at your stage, let me tell you that I passed my test 2nd time at 18. Having been a driver for 10 months I got caught speeding twice in the same week on the same stretch of road - very ashamed. Because I had been driving less than 18 months they threw the book at me and took my licence away. I now have to do EVERYTHING again, lessons (the court gave me a minimum no of hours to complete), theory test, practical test... I start again tomorrow (it has taken me YEARS to get over the embarrassment and get on with it). So please don't feel a failure Angel, but do be mindful of your speed !!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the support everyone, I don't feel so bad now and have re-booked for end of July (was the soonest avail). I will be 30 wks pg by then and WILL pass...
2under2 love the story about beta blockers, I think that is my problem though as I am quite capable of driving, (drove us all to Brighton last weekend) but go to pieces on the day and sadly reverse manouverves are not my strong point.
Why do the examiners have to be so gruff ? I don't want full blown chat for the whole test but a little friendliness wouldn't go amiss.
Considered the automatic option once but must admit to liking my stick shift.
My dh bought me a car a while back and I love it, we go everywhere in it, my dh doesn't get to drive us around anymore.
I just have to learn how to reverse around a corner properly but it strikes me the same as learning algebra in school........when am I ever going to need it

Wow ks where did you do your test I wouldn't mind getting that examiner.....I've now had three different examiners at two different test centres and am moving on to another new location next time. They have all been pretty horrible too I have to say.

WEll, I'll let you know next week how I do. I tend to fail for spectacularly awful reasons - going over a zebra crossing while a blind man was on it, that sort of thing - and I'm somewhere between resigned and terrified. Just hope I don't have the baby at that point!

Best of luck Motherinferior I'm truly rooting for you, do let us know how you get on.
Ks maybe a shaking of the hands is a tactic worth employing..

I HATE driving tests. Took 4 when I was 17 and then gave up until I was pg with dd2. Took the "first/fifth" when I was about 5 months and then the "second/sixth" when about 6 months. Managed to pass on that attempt and am so glad I persevered. It has been worth it, but even talking about driving tests makes me feel sick - what an awful ordeal. But it really is worth it.
My mum told me to do my test when pg (she did) and she was right.

Thank you. Yes, I know I did post it on different threads but having whinged about it so much I thought I should de-whinge!

Unfortunately a convenient Worry Diversion is now removed and I can focus on the Miracle of Birth. Oh dear.

Congratulations!!

My DD has just left to go and take her test, she was only 17 at the end of April, so deriving for 6 weeks. Passed theory with full marks.

Her instructor says she is ready for it, it was either now or at the end of August and as we bought her a car for her birthday she is looking forward to her freedom and me having a much reduced taxi bill!
