Just popping in to say congrats to Scarlotti and alana - fab news - well done both of you. alana - hope you get more settled on the sleep front soon.

Good luck to everyone else.
Thak you, Middledaugher, Ciara and Alana, that's put my mind at rest.

At only 5 weeks I'm not expecting any major nausea, but hopefully a little bit will creep in, if only to reassure me! Tiredness, yes, that's a definite!

I shall keep my fingers crossed for you (and everyone else) until you hit 12 weeks.

xx
Crunch Yes your right, not long now, cant believe it, it seems like yesterday that i had just found out i was pregnant and now 6 weeks to go

The sleep is the main problem at the moment, trying to do a full days work when having broken sleep is not easy, Oh well only4 and half weeks at work [hmmm]

Hope you and Polly are doing well.

Welcome to Vino and MiddleDaughter i had an early scan at about 9 weeks on NHS to check everything and it def eased my mind a bit (well until i came home that is )

Hope Blondie is doing ok, when do you start maternity leave?

Hi Vino and good to see you back Middledaughter. I had a private scan this time as my nhs appointment still hadn't come through by 12 weeks - although it was the only time in 3 pgs I was kept waiting (for an hour, with a full bladder shock but still worth it for some temporary reassurance before I started worrying again.

On the sickness front I had 2 pgs with no more than nausea, so if you're lucky it won't go onto the full scale vomiting everywhere I had with DS3.

Hope everyone else is well, haven't as much time to sit in front of MN all the time now - not on 3 1/2 hours sleep anyway. DS3 has his most wide awake period between 1am and 3am unfortunately.

Sorry Vino I also meant to say I have felt very queasy but have never actually been sick. I certainly didn't feel queasy until about 6 weeks. I am completely knackered all the time though!

Hi Vino,

yes I did have a private scan. I went on the recommendations of a friend and went up to London to the Feteal Medicine Centre on Harley St. For £100 they do an 'Early Viability Scan'. They check the heartbeat measure the head to bottom and some other stuff but the really nice thing was I didn't have to wait at all.

I was incredibly nervous and they called me in for my appt exactly on time.

It has really helped me but I still don't feel out of the woods until the 12 week scan. I was very pleased I did it.

Good luck.

x
Middledaughter - that's great news, and I really understand your anxiety. I guess we're not called the gusset watching brigade for nothing!

Would you mind if I asked you a couple of questions? Did you go for a private scan at 8 weeks?

Only I was told by my GP today that I wouldn't be able to have a scan until 12 weeks due to them being very busy - despite the EPU assuring me I could, to put my mind at rest.

My last pg ended at 11 weeks, with the estimated death of the little fella at about 7 weeks. Understandably a scan at 8 would really reassure me! Especially before Christmas.

Also, when did you start getting morning sickness, if at all? I've had some mild sea-sickness/wooziness but not much.

Sorry to drone on...it's the anxiety!

Hi again,

I have been lurking because I'm not sure how to feel at the moment. I had an early private scan Monday after a spell of spotting at around week 5. I am now 8+4. I don't think I have ever been so terrified as I was when I was waiting for the image to appear on the screen adn for a second I felt like I'd made the whole thing up! Anyway, I have been told it is all fine. They detected a heartbeat of 178bpm which sounds very high but they said is normal. They were at pains to say this didn't mean everything would be fine just that it was ok for this stage of development. So good news but will feel more confident when I've had the 12 week scan. So not ready to graduate to the air passengers list yet.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

Hi vino, welcome to the thread smile It is odd feeling that morning sickness is a good thing grin Doesn't sound crazy at all (at least not on this thread) Sending you sticky thoughts.

Ciara not long now? How are you doing? Managing to get much sleep?

Sorry scarlotti this one's a bit more up to date grin

Hey Everyone

Would it be ok I joined, please?

I had a m/c in July at 11 weeks (died at 7 weeks), and am currently 4 weeks pg.

I'm having all of the usual symptons, plus a few I didn't have the first time, so really hoping this little rascal is hanging on.

Having some mild sea-sickness/weirdy spacey feelings. I had no sickness at all before, I guess because it was over before it was due to start - so as crazy as it sounds, I won't mind if it hits me hard!

Good luck everyone else here.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
