How did you know you were pregnant?

I was going to name change but I can't be bothered.

I want to know what your first symptoms were when you got pregnant, the little things that made you suspect. Or even the things you couldn't explain but made sense later.

I'm asking because I have a couple of things going on that I'm a bit embarrassed about. If I am pregnant it will be a miracle but part of me will be disappointed if I'm not!

The familiar wave of nausea. A week before I missed a period.

I didn't want more than one glass of wine and trying to eat eggs made me want to vomit.

Swollen tender breasts with very blue veins, and wanting to eat cereal in the mornings - I am not a breakfast person normally.

I kept smelling strawberries, everywhere I went and my boobs wouldnt fit into my favourite top . Found out when I was 5 weeks pregnant only because my friend who was ttc told me about counting her cycle days and I wasnt aware I should have been doing that!

I started thinking about being pregnant! Can't explain it any better than that. no physical signs (that came later) just a total preoccupation and just kept thinking about my womb I just knew. I had early bleeding and had a scan and at that point they said I was 6 weeks, so I must have known within DAYS of conception!

Same with second pregnancy. In fact, it was so early that the test came back negative! So I spent a few months thinking I was imagining it, before taking another one - positive. Scan showed me 4 months.

For me, it seems as soon as I conceive, my body tells me!

I knew I was pregnant when I did a pregnancy test the day or so after I was due.

Except for dd2 when I wasn't expecting it - I had a mirena - and found out I was pregnant after 2 weeks of throwing up every morning - kind of gave it away.

None of the weird smells/symptoms/imagining something was going on.

Maybe I'm just not so sensitive to hormones?

We were TTC and I didn't get my period. I finally went to the doctor around 6 weeks past my LMP to get tested. Boobs got sore around the normal time but then never stopped being sore (they're still sore). I got really ill the day I was expecting my period but that was the only time I got sick - and now that they've changed my due date to match my scans, I'm supposed to believe I wasn't even pregnant at that point! Maybe it was food poisoning

So I guess I didn't really "know" I was pregnant until the doctor confirmed it.

With my first pregnancy it was definitely the sore boobs! This time round it was really bad implantation pains that lasted 3 days followed by extreme tiredness a week or so later.

Didn't really have a clue until I tested. I only tested because we were TTC but I wanted to have lots of wine so thought I better make sure...

With hindsight though, there were a couple of days when I was unaccountably knackered and I couldn't drink red wine without getting a really dry horrible mouth.

Dog-tired and boobs like zepplins

Also craving for milky drinks. Shortly afterwards developed sense of smell akin to a blood hounds!

Making my morning (very strong) coffee made me retch and I went off tea too.

So unintentional caffeine avoidance is the first sign for me! Strangely, doesn't apply to chocolate though...

lack of premenstrual spots

and of course the big blue cross on the test was a bit of a giveaway

Coffee, alcohol and garlic made me retch - event the thought of it. Everything smelt much stronger than normal (especially bad things like feet and nappies!), and generally I felt a bit green - that was from week 2.5 - so literally instantly.

But the biggest giveaway was raging moods - I felt really, really angry. This happened every time long before I could have known I was pregnant. The first list varied between 2.5 weeks to 5 weeks across the different pregnancies.

So what are your symptoms then?
