Reflux... urgh

Am 28 weeks pg and have started getting reflux in the last few days -- it seems to start around 5pm for some reason and last til I go to bed.

Is there anything I can do/take for it? Would be a drag to go through 12 more weeks of this...

you can take gaviscon. you can get it on prescription... ask your midwife, or see a gp

Sorry Meg- I have had this- it seems worse when I don't eat. Have been swigging gaviscon.
Potatoes seem to make it much worse, so maybe stick to rice/pasta/bread?

vanilla ice cream - about half a tub at a go.
Much nicer than gaviscon. I used Green&Black's and it worked very well - don't know about other vanilla icecreams but if you like ice cream you;ll have fun road testing them all.

Thanks. Will get some Gaviscon -- is that like milk of magnesia? Only that always used to make me throw up as a kid

I just had some trifle as I thought the cream and custard might help, it didn't sadly

not the same - even different flavours of icecream didn't work very well, only the vanilla. Not sure if it is the vanilla itself, the coldness or the combo, but it was good.

Trouble is, I have to drink tonic water at bedtime to stand any chance of sleeping (restless legs). Which is acidic and makes the reflux worse. Sigh...

I had this with DS1+2 but found it was caffeine that was causing it for me...I'm a bit of a tea monster! so changed to decaff, that helped me anyway. Hope you find something to ease it, its awful isn't it, one of the cons to being PG. Am liking the sound of the ice-cream, as of yet i havent got it but am only 9 wks so i'm sure it will be with me soon

bizarrely enough, soda water or any kind of fizzy water seemed to ease my heartburn/reflux
worth a shot if you wanna try something from out of the box...you never know.
I'm 28 weeks with #2 at the mo too, and haven't had it too badly yet, but i'm sure it's on the way!

I'm nearly 28 weeks and been having the same problem since Christmas - generally at nightime, sometimes evenings. Gaviscon seems to work, but am going to get a prescription for a big bottle. Apparently you have to specify which flavour you want .. peppermint, definitely as aniseed is rank!
Are there any other foods anyone knows of that set it off? I can't cope with fizzy drinks - enough wind already! - and whilst milk helps a bit, it doesn't get rid.
