When you got your BFP when did you ring your doctor? With dd it was the doc how told me to do a test so it was kinda out my hands but this time i found out very early and unsure when i should ring them?

i went to my dr at about 8 weeks to get 'into the system' and to get my bloods done. nOt in the Uk though so it may be different if that's where you are.

I went to my GP when I'd missed a 2nd period.

Call your surgery, speak to the receptionist and explain you are pg and need to make your booking appointment with the midwife.

Congrats!

Went to MW at 6 weeks so could get in the system and booked for a scan.

Straight away but that's because I am married to him!

Saw the midwife at about 9 weeks.

I'd go quite soon. (I was forced to with mine as I had hyperemesis) but anyway, best to get into the system as the 1st scan can be quite booked up.

Wow-so most people did it fairly late (well not late late iyswim) then, I think i was about 9wks with dd. Am only 5.5 weeks now but read 'ring as soon as you know' but felt it was very early-what do you think?

no harm in phoning now, i think. I only waited as my gp was on holiday and i wanted to speak to her, not someone else.

go for it!

I went at about 5.5 weeks. I don't think it matters if you go early, you'll get a chance to arrange a convenient midwife appointment and get your scan booked in early.

Having said that apparently I didn't need to see the GP at all (he was quite surprised & said 'ooh it makes a change from seeing sick people!') I was supposed to ring the midwife directly, how I was supposed to know that I've no idea!

Congratulations btw

Thanks Spangle! I wander if I should just ask the receptionists then?

I think that's what I should have done, might save you a trip to the surgery.

I chickened out today-I'm going to take another test in the morning just to be very sure.....the test I took a week ago was one of the cb digital ones with conception indicator so my theory is that it said 1-2weeks last week (3-4 in doc terms) so should say 2-3 (4-5)tomorrow (touch wood) and then I'll ring on mon I'm so paranoid something will go wrong Please let everyting be ok!!!

I would go sooner rather than later...I went about 5 weeks with DC2 and am glad I did, as blood tests picked up hypothryroidism which I didn't know I had. (Hypothryoidism isn't routinely tested for in the UK, AFAIK, but I'm in Aust at the moment)

Defo go sooner rather than later, some areas have quite a long wait for scans so the sooner u get on the system the better.

Congrats! I got my BFP on Monday (and again on Tuesday, just in case) and saw my GP yesterday. She was really pleased, as we'd just started on fertility investigations, and was happy to give me some general nutrition advice, etc. Anyway, I'm also just over 5 weeks and GP just told me to talk to the receptionist about contacting the mid-wife - no suggestion that I was coming in too early.

I too am terrified about something going wrong, and would rather be in the system sooner than later.

This is my first time, so I have no idea about what's what - whether anything I'm feeling is normal.

Congratulations Minshu! I had just started having fertility investigations too! I'm terrified-even though I already have dd.
Fingers crossed we both have happy healthy pregnacies and babies
